Persuasive Writing
we are learning to write persuasively.
We know that each piece of persuasive writing starts with ann introduction which states the problem and our position on the topic.
We then give our argument.
Our writing then ends with a conclusion which restates our opinion.
Here is Eva's persuasive writing. The topic was "A movie should be played every afternoon at school" This is what Eva thought.
You go to school in the morning not very excited at all. You work for hours and you think you should get a movie after lunch? As good as it sounds it actually isn't a very good idea.
Firstly there i s only an hour after lunch so you would not be able to finish the movie leaving a crowd of disappointed children.
Secondly, there are so many movies so that if we watched one each day we would eventually watch all the good children movies and would have to move on to little kids movies, which wouldn't be much fun.
Another point is that we will be wasting one hour of valuable learning time each day and we will get behind in our work.
Therefore we shouldn't watch a movie every single day.

QUESTIONING
As part of our reading today we watched the part of Close Up last night where they discussed the cost of the All Black jersey in New Zealand and off shore.
Before we watched the clip some QUESTIONS we had were
"Why are the jerseys so expensive in NZ when it is our team?" - Ross
"Did Addidas give the overseas company the right to sell the jerseys?" Bethany
"Why is Addidas being so greedy?" Jacob
DURING:
"How can they sell it so much cheaper overseas?"
"Why are other countries selling the All Black jerseys?"
"Will Addidas eventually drop the price in NZ?"
AFTER:
"Will Addidas lower the prices to match overseas prices?"
"How will this debate affect Addidas products in NZ?"
WHAT ARE SOME QUESTIONS YOU HAVE AROUND THIS DEBATE?

Animation Fun!!!!
During this term we are going to use animation in our learning.
Have a look at this cool example of Morph.
I have got some playdough so that you will be able to create your own animation about an incident that happened in the holidays.
START thinking and come with some ideas.
See you Monday.

The cry of the Taniwha
Our class has been focusing on Des Hunt books and our whole class is currently reading "The cry of the Taniwha" which is a book about a boy called Matt who gets involved in a mystery that will change his life forever! We have to read the book up to the specified chapter and then complete the activities linked to the chapter. Our whole class is loving this book and it's cool to all be able to talk about the book we are reading We are all aiming to have the book read by the end of the holidays.

Jelly mountain A.B.C key
In our class we use thinkers keys. Here is one of the keys; The alphabet key, about Jelly mountain that our class wrote:
Anxious: Jessie and Jason felt anxious when Shaun crashed with the Tuatara
Believe it or not Jason discovered a way to the top of Jelly Mountain
Capturing the Tuatara was difficult for Shaun because there were a lot of them
Defeating Shaun was hard for Jessie and Jason
Enough D.N.A in shakey the Tuatara's tail
Furious: Shaun Morris was furious when he got caught
Getting proof to show Jason's dad was almost impossible!
Huia statue contained the map
Individually the tuatara were contained in large crates
Jessie and Jason getting into trouble
Knowing the path to Jelly Mountain
Living in Mariah's life would have been difficult and frightening
Missing Tuatara found in crates on Jelly mountain
Navigating to Jelly Mountain was a difficult task
On top of Jelly mountain the last Tuataras were found
Parents having false accusations
Questioning Shaun's false intentions
Rats were suspected to be in the holes
Scientists wanted to clone the Tuatara
Tuatara's were close to extinction
Under Jelly mountain there is a mall entrance
Violent Shaun lashes out at Jason
Wild ride after Shaun on Jason's dad's quad
X-treme challenges for Jason and Jessie
Young adults uncovering mysteries
Zooming after Shaun and the Tuatara

Wharite Tennis Tournament
For the last four Mondays Jared has been taking each of our classes for a half hour tennis lesson, it has been great fun and we have learnt new skills.
On Monday, Wharite travelled into the Palmerston North Tennis Club for our Tennis Tournament.
Once we got there we were split into our classes and had our own tournament. The winner of our class competition was Blake. WELL DONE!
Blake then went onto compete against the other class' winners.
It was a great experience to be able to play against so many people and on the big courts as well.
Thank-you Jared for organising it.
Thank-you to the parents who took transport.
